Brunel University in Uxbridge, designed by Richard Sheppard, Robson and Partners appears in the 1971 film Clockwork Orange directed by Stanley Kubrick. After a particularly violent episode in which Alex (Malcolm McDowell) and his Droogs, bludgeon the 'Cat Lady' to death he is arrested. Alex agrees to undergo aversion therapy in order to earn his freedom. The therapy takes places in the "Ludovico Medical Facility" set in the brutalist campus grounds.
