This drawing is inspired by the concrete facade of the Welbeck Street car park located in Marylebone, north of Oxford Street, in the City of Westminster, London. This striking car park was designed by Michael Blampied and Partners in 1971.
The Shapes of Brutalism collection celebrates brutalist architecture in London. Brutalism championed material honesty and expressed function through form. The bold concrete forms and subsequent dark pockets and shadows created are a signature look of brutalist structures.
